Frequently asked questions about Wordz
Do I need to type accents?
No: the letters in Wordz are the 26 letters without accents, and the app's dictionaries spell words without accents. For "été", you trace ETE, which is worth 9 points in French.
Why is a word rejected?
A word must have at least 3 letters and be in the dictionary of the chosen language. Its letters must touch, by a side or a corner, without going through the same cell twice. A word already found in the game earns nothing a second time.
What is a bonus word?
It's a dictionary word that you trace but that isn't one of the crossing words to find. It earns its points, but it doesn't count toward finishing the grid. At the end, the app puts it in the BONUS WORDS list.
How long does a game last?
2 minutes in Circle mode, 3 minutes in Grid mode and 6 minutes in Score mode. In Circle and Grid, the game ends early if all the target words have been found.
Which languages can you play in?
The app offers 17 playable dictionaries, from French to Turkish. The interface language (46 languages and variants) is set separately: you can read the app in French and play in English.
How are points counted?
Each letter has a value, which depends on the dictionary's language. A word scores the sum of its letters multiplied by its length: long words score much more. Finding all the target words adds a bonus: 500 points with no bonus word, 416 with one bonus word out of 5 target words.
What does the level represent?
The level tracks your total score across all your games. It equals the square root of the score divided by ten, rounded down: level 1 at 100 points, next level at 400 points.
Can you pause a game?
Yes: when paused, the app shows "Game paused" and the timer is stopped. If you go back to the home screen, the game stays paused and can be resumed from the home screen.
