Wordz

Wordz points

In brief

A word earns the sum of its letter values, multiplied by its number of letters. PAR is worth 15 points, PLANTE is worth 48. Finding all the words to find adds a perfect bonus. The level follows the cumulative score.

The calculation

The same points count in all three modes, for a word to find as well as for a bonus word:

word points = (sum of its letter values) × (number of letters)

  • P3A1R1: 5 × 3 = 15 points.
  • P3L1A1N1T1E1: 8 × 6 = 48 points.
  • K10I1W10I1: 22 × 4 = 88 points.

Since the sum is multiplied by the length, with equal letter values a word twice as long earns four times as much: this is the first key to strategy.

Letter values in French

The value depends on the dictionary's language. With the French dictionary:

LetterABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
Value1332142418101211381111410101010

With the English dictionary, the values change: TAXI is worth 52 points in French and 44 in English, because X is worth 8 instead of 10.

The perfect bonus

In Circle and Grid, finding all the target words adds a bonus at the end of the game. It is worth 500 points if no bonus word was found, and drops with each bonus word: 500 × target words ÷ (target words + bonus words), rounded down. For a game with 5 target words:

Bonus words foundPerfect bonus
0500
1416
5250
10166

Bonus words keep their own points: the bonus drops, but the total score can go up. The calculation is done in the strategy page.

The level

The level is calculated from the cumulative score of all your games: the square root of the score, divided by ten, rounded down. The thresholds grow quickly:
